11 COMMISSION VISITS OLIN’S IMPACT on the environment was subject of a visit to the Pisgah Forest plants in the fourth quarter by the Environmental Management Commission of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Econo mic Resources. Hosts to the dele gation were Robert G. Cunningham, Jr., group counsel, and Robert Guss- man, director of environmental con trol and industrial hygiene. They are shown in top photo at the secondary treatment facility, standing on the platform above the discharge of treated water to the French Broad River. In the center photo, Gussman points to action of the eleven 100- horsepower aerators. Everett Knight, director of the Division of Environmental Management, is shown at right in the lower photo with Paul Dickson of Raeford, a member of the Environmental Man agement Commission. The commis sioners reportedly were compli mentary about the condition of the facilities, how they were opera ting, and their effectiveness in air and water pollution abatement.
